He woke up with no pain. However said his mouth was very very dry. And that he needed a drink right away. For breakfast he only wanted a yogurt, but I told him that a goal for the day was to eat something more solid, yet soft.
Later he decided to try an english muffin with cream cheese. I told him that cream cheese might be tough because it might get stuck to his palate expander. While he was able to eat the english muffin, he got a lot of the muffin stuck up in his palate expander. But he calmly dealt with this. He used his little bristle brush and was able to get the muffin out from above his expander.
Later in the day he said he would try hot dog. Which I was thrilled about, because for a kid that is on a high protein diet due to his insulin/glucose issues (he gets hypoglycemic pretty easily) I knew his body really needed the protein. He was able to eat it when it was cut up into small bits.
For dinner he had soup, but I will explain why later. He also was able to swallow one of his supplements. Which I was also thrilled about, because he needs these to help with his hypoglycemia.
So we did have one issue today. Which turned into a sorta big issue. I went to do his daily “turn” on the expander. Which was not easy. Even though I had practiced on a model expander at the orthodontists office yesterday, (they turned it for me yesterday) I was not prepared for how hard it was to get the key in the expander and turn in. Lets just say I don’t have the best eye site, even with my glasses on. And that hole is FREAKING TINY!!!! I got it in there after like 10 attempts, and did what I believed was a full turn. However the next hole that should of come up on the expander only was 1/2 out. Which totally screwed me up for tomorrows turn!!! UGGGGGG!!!! Watch my video below to hear the rest of the story……
So after all that we went to the orthodontist again!!! Seriously, I have been to the orthodontist office 3 days in a row!!! I don’t want to go there again!! At least not until our next appointment! Anyway we got there and they were even having issues getting it to turn. The lady said his mouth is just so tiny. She finally fixed it and in the process turned it AGAIN! so the poor kiddo got it turned TWICE today. He was feeling sore for a bit after that. She said it was okay to give his face a break tomorrow, and turn it again on friday. I am praying this goes better than it did today. =-( 27 turns left!
