Our Courtagen parental/sibling results finally came in!!
There were a couple of surprises, and a couple of “Yep I KNEW IT!” moments while looking over the results. But here is what we now know.
LRRK2 – The OCD gene. This gene has been associated with PANS, parkinsons and tic behavior. Anthony has never had tics. But we know in the past he has had OCD. Anyway, ends up, he got this gene from my husband. And my daughter apparently has it as well. However so far she does not seem to be expressing any symptoms of it. We are treating this mutation with Riboflavin and Relax Max, and Anthony has responded very well to it.
ACADS – This gene is associated with fasting intolerance. Both my husband and myself have this gene and apparently passed it on to Anthony. We are treating this with the mito diet and making sure Anthony eats high protein regularly through out the day.
SLC25A10 – This gene is associated with glucose/insulin issues. Again, both my husband and myself have this gene and apparently passed it on to Anthony and my daughter as well. While she doesn’t seem to be expressing it at this time, I will be watching and monitoring her. At least I know to keep an eye out for this one. We are treating Anthony with the mito diet in combination with magnesium citrate to help him manage the glucose/insulin balance.
ACLY – Also referred to as ATP Citrate Lyase – This gene is associated with a few health issues. One of them being hypothyrodism. Anthony inherited this from my husband. Which makes sense because so many on my husbands side have thyroid issues. My daughter thankfully did not inherit this one. To help manage this, we are doing selenium and iodine and avoiding things with fluoride.
I can not express how GOOD things are since we started this protocol. Literally tears well up in my eyes with happiness when I think of what a good place our whole family is in now. The closure my heart has experienced due to the 23 and me, and courtagen test… well lets just say it is something we have been searching for, for years!
